What is Komagatake Ropeway?
Komagatake Ropeway is a sightseeing gondola located in Hakone.
Mt. Fuji can be seen from the top, and there is also a shrine whose origin is 2400 years ago.
This time, we will introduce the Komagatake Ropeway, where you can enjoy such a superb view of Hakone.
What is Komagatake?
The altitude of Mt. Komagatake is 1356m, which is the second highest mountain in Hakone. (No. 2 is Kamiyama's 1m)
It used to be a training ground for trainees, but now that the ropeway has been improved, it is now easier to reach the summit.
Ride the ropeway
Let's get on the ropeway.
It departs from "Hakone-en" on the shore of Lake Ashi.
Seal gondola
The ropeway runs about every 20 minutes and takes 7 minutes to reach the summit.
The illustration drawn on the gondola is a popular seal of "Hakone Aquarium" in the same area.
The crisp black eyes are characteristic.
By the way, the real seals at Hakone Aquarium are so cute ...

Is Baikal seal scary on the face?
View from the top
I regained my mind and arrived at the summit.
It seems that there is often fog, but the day I visited was sunny.
It's sunny, so Lake Ashi looks like it's shining.
There is nothing 360 °, so the feeling of openness is amazing.
Seen from below, it looked like a rocky mountain, but it was overgrown with vegetation than I expected.
It seems that flowers will bloom in spring.
You can see Mt. Fuji
If the weather is nice, you can see Mt. Fuji.
It was a little disappointing at the timing when it was covered with clouds.
Visit Hakone Motomiya
At the top of the mountain is "Hakone Motomiya".
It is said that it was opened by the Holy Fortune-telling hermit 2400 years ago.
The shrine has disappeared for a long time, but was rebuilt in 1964 with the donation of Seibu Group founder Yasujiro Tsutsumi.
The reading is "Motomiya"
Hakone Motomiya was built as the Okumiya (Okumiya: another shrine) of "Hakone Shrine" in Lake Ashi.
However, the originator created 2400 years ago is this Komagatake.
Therefore, it is called "Motomiya" instead of Okumiya to show that it is original.
The shrine in the sky
It takes about 10 minutes on foot from the ropeway to reach Hakone Motomiya.
The red shrine looks great in the blue sky.
There is no concept of barrier-free on the road, as it is originally a place visited by trainees.
Let's climb slowly without hassle.
Horse-falling stone
Near the shrine, there is a rock that is said to have landed on a white horse in the olden days.
Western culture isn't the only idea of a prince riding a white horse.
Buddha, the founder of Buddhism, was also riding a white horse.
Precautions
Here are some things to keep in mind when taking a walk.
Basically, the promenade is easy to walk in.
But after it rains, some roads become muddy.
Especially around Hakone Motomiya, there was a lot of mud, so be careful when walking.
It is also courageous to turn back the way you came.
Here's some advice from someone who has their shoes dirty with mud and washed with the hotel's Animety toothbrush.
How is it different from the Hakone Ropeway?
Confusingly, there are two ropeways in Hakone.
This time, we are introducing the "Hakone Komagatake Ropeway" that departs from Hakone-en.
On the other hand, the Hakone Ropeway operates in Owakudani, where sulfur blows out.
There is a difference in the name "Komagatake", so be careful not to make a mistake.
Time required and congestion
I think the walking time at the top of the mountain is about 40 to 60 minutes.
However, the ropeway may be crowded, so you should consider about 90 to 120 minutes including the travel time.
It can be very crowded on long vacations, so it is recommended to visit early in the morning.

Finally
Hakone Komagatake Ropeway is a place where you can enjoy the spectacular view of Hakone.
However, there is often fog, and strong winds can cause the ropeway to be suspended.
It is a tourist destination that is affected by the weather, so we recommend that you check the weather on the day before visiting.
There are many facilities in Hakone that you can enjoy indoors, so I think it's easy to adjust the schedule.
↓ The suspension information is updated on the official Facebook page.
