What is Hakone

Hakone is one of Japan's leading hot spring resorts in Kanagawa Prefecture.

It's an area with so many tourist facilities that you don't know where to go.

This time, I will introduce the sightseeing spots that I was happy to visit after traveling around Hakone for 4 days.

About the criteria to choose

We mainly select "Hakone-like tourist spots".

Because I think it's a waste to go to a place unique to the area because I came to travel.

Day XNUMX: Enjoy the nature of Hakone

On the first day, we will take a look around the nature of Hakone.

Even if you leave Shinjuku at 7:00 in the morning, you will arrive in Hakone in 2 hours and 30 minutes, so we will start at 10:00.

　

10:00 Take the Hakone Ropeway to Owakudani (60 minutes stay)

The first is from the Hakone Ropeway.

Due to the effects of volcanic gas and strong winds, there are several suspensions a year, so if possible, this is a place I would like to visit on the first day.

If it is canceled, replace it with the schedule for the second day.

12:00 Hakone Pirate Ship (30 minutes on board)

Next is the Hakone Pirate Ship.It is about a 5-minute walk from the ropeway.

Take the bus from Taoyuandai Port to the next Hakone Town Port.

13:00 Hakone Ekiden turning point

A 3-minute walk from Hakone Town Port, there is a turning point for the Hakone Ekiden.

It seems to be a sanctuary for runners, and there were some people taking a commemorative photo.

There is also the Hakone Ekiden Museum, so if you are a big fan of "I definitely watch Hakone Ekiden every year!", Let's go in.
(This time it is not included in the sightseeing time)

 

13:00 Lunch (60 minutes)

There are many restaurants in Hakone Town Port, so if you are hungry, let's have lunch.

From here, you'll be walking around, so keep hydrated and energized even if you're not hungry.

I ate 5 hot spring eggs in Owakudani, so it was a substitute for lunch.

 

14:00 Hakone Sekisho (45 minutes stay)

It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Hakone Town Port to reach Hakone Sekisho.

After seeing Hakone Sekisho, walk north along the lake.

15:00 Onshi-Hakone Park (45 minutes stay)

If you walk north as it is, you will immediately enter Onshi-Hakone Park.

If you walk around the park, you will get tired, so try to aim only at the "Central Square" and "Benten no Nose Observatory".

Heal your tiredness at the hot springs on the first night

Let's take a hot spring at night to get rid of fatigue.

If the inn you are staying at does not have a hot spring, there are many day trip hot springs.

 

One-day hot spring: Hakone Yuryo

For a day trip hot spring in Hakone, we recommend "Hakone Yuryo".
(You can walk a long distance & "Yunosato Okada" is recommended in the early morning)

Many of Hakone's day trip hot springs are located in an inconvenient location, a little away from the station.

"Hakone Yuryo" is very convenient because there is a free shuttle bus from Hakone Yumoto Station about every 15 minutes.

There is also a splendid garden, so you can feel like a luxury inn.

There is also a restaurant, so you may want to eat slowly after the hot springs.

There are many interesting museums in Hakone.

10:00 Little Prince Museum (60 minutes stay)

This is the only museum in the world with the theme of "Prince of the Stars".

Of the three I will introduce, the punch is the weakest, so I recommend visiting first.

11:30 Glass Forest Museum (120 minutes stay)

Next is the Glass Forest Museum.

It is about a 10-minute walk from the Little Prince Museum.

You can eat lunch here, but if it's crowded, eat it on your way to the next sculpture forest.

14:00 The Hakone Open Air Museum (120 minutes stay)

The last is the Hakone Open Air Museum.It takes about 15 minutes by bus from the Glass Forest Museum.

It's a facility that is hard to enjoy unless it's sunny, so if the weather is bad on the day, change the order you go.

The charm of Hakone Onsen

That's all for the tourist spots, but I would also like to talk about Hakone Onsen.

In the old days, I used to have a value of "I would enter if there was a hot spring at my travel destination, but I wouldn't bother to aim for a hot spring", but that changed at Hakone Onsen.

The opportunity was the one-day hot spring "Yunosato Okada" that healed me who was exhausted by the night bus from Kansai to Kanagawa.

I arrived in Kanagawa by night bus at 6:00 in the morning, and this was the only hot spring that was open in the early morning. (Note: Business hours are now shortened in Corona)

The first thing I thought about taking an open-air bath was the wonderful view of Hakone!
It is in a great location surrounded by mountains.

The bathtub is also the best.
I was in a bathtub with a jacuzzi, which had stone pillows and was able to lie down on my back, for about 30 minutes.
I was healed enough to see that my physical strength was really recovering.

There is also a water cooler that allows you to drink water, so you don't have to worry about dehydration.

Hakone is also the setting for the robot anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion".

The current Tokyo has disappeared, and the current location of Hakone is the "3rd New Tokyo City".
