What is Mitsukejima?

Mitsukejima is a scenic spot in Suzu City, Ishikawa Prefecture.

It is a large rock with a height of 28 meters, and it is also called "Gunkanjima" because it looks like a ship with its tip protruding. (Unrelated to Gunkanjima in Nagasaki)

It is lit up at night and you can enjoy the change of the day, so I will introduce it together with the nearby hotel "Notojiso".

Origin of the name

A long time ago, Kukai (a great monk also known as Kobo Daishi) "found" this megalith, so it came to be called "Mitsukejima".

The naming is too straight without any twist.

Can you walk across to Mitsukejima?

When the sea level is low due to low tide, you can walk across to Mitsukejima.

But be careful as your feet will slip a lot.

I tried to cross, but it slipped more than I expected, so I turned back immediately.

I wore sandals so that I could get wet, so shoes with proper non-slip may be better.

Daily changes in Mitsukejima

You can see it 24 hours a day from the park, which does not require an admission fee.

Evening

First of all, from the evening appearance.

Excuse me, I didn't know the existence of Mitsukejima until I came to Suzu City, but I was surprised at how powerful it was.

When I think about it, I feel that there aren't many well-shaped giant stones that can be seen from the land even in Japan.

The sun is gradually starting to fall.

The tip is sharp, so it certainly feels like a ship.

It was cloudy on this day, but if it is sunny, it will be dyed red by the setting sun.

There is also a slightly dull monument called "Enmusu Beach" nearby.

When the area gets dark, the light-up will start.

In September, when I went, it was illuminated from sunset to around 9:23 at night.

State of the night

It is Mitsukejima at night.

Looking at the picture, it feels a little creepy.

A bird flew by chance, so I took a picture with it.

It is a piece that shows that you should wear white clothes to prevent traffic accidents at night.

The starry sky is also beautiful

Mitsukejima is far from the town, so you can see a pretty starry sky.

However, the area around Mitsukejima is also lit up, so it was difficult to find a dark place where the starry sky was easy to take.

It's a little cloudy, so I think you can see more stars on a sunny day in winter. (If possible, aim for the new moon day)

Mitsukejima Seaside Campground

By the way, the park where you can see Mitsukejima is also operated as a "seaside campsite".

You can sleep while looking at the starry sky, so it may be good for outdoor enthusiasts.

Introduction of single room

There was also a tatami mat room, which was large enough for one person.

In the case of guest rooms on the sea side, you can see Mitsukejima from the window.

The price will be a little higher than the mountain side, but make a reservation on the sea side as much as possible.

The toilet has a clean washlet.

There is no bath or shower, but there is a large communal bath so there is no problem.

Notojiso open-air bath

You can see Mitsukejima from the open-air bath. (Although you can't see it if you completely immerse it in the bathtub)

The arrow in the photo is an open-air bath, so be careful as you can see your upper body from the outside if you get too close to the Mitsukejima side.

Please note that there is only one open-air bath, and it changes daily for men and women.

Stand

Local souvenirs and drinks are sold at the shop.

Personally, I think hotels are local ice cream.

I bought it here as well.

Dainagon azuki beans are cultivated on the Noto Peninsula, where Suzu City is located, and it seems that the azuki beans are large and plump.

If the ice cream is ticky, you won't know the flavor of Dainagon azuki beans, so let's melt it a little before eating.

Breakfast at Notojiso

Breakfast was a Japanese set meal and was normal, good or bad.

According to what I heard, dinner was better, so I think this hotel should have had dinner.

There are few restaurants around.

This is a highly recommended hotel.

It has a unique feature of being right in front of Mitsukejima, and employees are also highly concerned. (Maybe it depends on the employee)

The price is reasonable and there are hot springs, so I think it's a good first choice when traveling to Suzu City.

Mitsukejima business hours and admission fees

Mitsuke Park is free and you can come and go 24 hours a day.

Please note that the light-up will end around 23:00.

Access

It takes 2 hours and 30 minutes by limited express bus from Kanazawa Station.

From Kanazawa Station, we also recommend using the sightseeing trains "Hanayome Noren" and "Noto Satoyama Satoumi".

Travel time will be sightseeing.
