What is Onshi Hakone Park?
Onshi-Hakone Park is a park located in Hakone, Kanagawa Prefecture.
It is also a viewing spot for Mt. Fuji, and here are some of the highlights of the park that you should stop by when sightseeing in Hakone.
Where the royal villa was
The view is excellent because it used to be the place where the villa (villa) of the imperial family used to be.
The building at that time collapsed in the 1930 North Izu Earthquake, and in 1946 the entire land was transferred to Kanagawa Prefecture.
It is now beautifully maintained and has been reborn as a park that anyone can enter.
The reading of the gift is "onshi", which means "a gift from the emperor".
Lakeside Observatory
In the center of the park, there is a "Lakeside Observatory" that reproduces the appearance of the detached palace.
The 1st floor is a museum, and the 2nd floor has a coffee shop "Ryokusian" and a balcony with a panoramic view.
It is a view of Mt. Fuji seen from the front of the lakeside observatory.
It seems that cherry blossoms and azaleas bloom in spring, but I feel a little lonely because I took it in winter.
Recommended route
The route "Central Gate-> Central Square-> Benten no Nose Observatory-> Ashikawa Bridge" is recommended.
The park is large and has many stairs, so walking unplanned can be quite tiring.
There is nothing in the "Tower's Nose Square" at the top left of this map, so I think it's enough to go to the "Central Square" and the "Benten nose Observatory".
(Reference) Road to Tower Nose Square
For reference, the road to the "Tower's Nose Square", which has no highlights, looks like this.
If you like trekking, you may go on purpose.
Time required and congestion
I think it's about 45 minutes to walk slowly.
There is no crowded place.

It takes about 5 minutes on foot from Hakone Town Port to reach the park.
The recommended route to go is "Hakone Ropeway (Owakudani)-> Hakone Pirate Ship-> Hakone Town Port-> Walk".
The reason why this route is good is that it is not easily affected by the suspension of the ropeway, but details are explained on the Hakone Pirate Ship page.
