What is Legoland Japan?
Legoland is a Lego-themed theme park in Aichi Prefecture.
It is often compared with other huge theme parks, but when I actually went there, I felt that the target audience and the construction of the park were completely different.
I will explain how to enjoy such Legoland.
Specialized for families
Legoland's main target audience is families with children aged 3-12.
The official website also advertises "Kids theme park with lots of attractions that you can ride from 3 years old!"
It seems that the satisfaction of the family is high, and on the way back, the family is sucked into the booth where they buy the annual pass, so I wondered if there was only an exit there.
There are many ideas that children can enjoy
There are many things that children will be happy with, such as "buttons that do something when pressed" in Legoland.
The installation location is well thought out, and it is placed at an exquisite distance so that children will not get bored.
There are many benches, and all the people involved in Japanese theme parks and exhibitions should go to visit.
Is Legoland small?
It's small compared to other huge theme parks, but I think it's a normal size for a one-theme facility.
It would take a day for a family to walk around.
By the way, expansion work is also underway, and a new area will be opened in 2025, and the site will be about 40% larger.
Can't you enjoy it with adults alone?
Expecting exciting attractions like those at Universal Studios Japan will make you look like the Egyptians above.
For adults, I think that Legoland enjoys the atmosphere, nostalgia, and "Miniland" that reproduces tourist spots with Lego.
I was more satisfied than I had imagined, so I will introduce it later along with the recommended attractions.
Is the meal expensive?
In terms of price, I felt it was about the same as other theme parks.
A set of potatoes and drinks is 600 yen, meals are about 1500-2000 yen, and there is also an all-you-can-eat buffet for 2200 yen.
There are many restaurants around Legoland, but be aware that you cannot re-enter with a regular one-day pass.
Is the entrance fee high?
The same-day ticket costs 7100 yen for adults, but if you make a reservation in advance from the official website, it will be around 5200 to 6400 yen.
It's a good idea to buy it more than a week in advance, so buy it when you have a plan.
I often see people saying, "Admission is too expensive!", But Merlin Entertainments, which operates Legoland, deals with Legoland and Madame Tussauds (a celebrity wax figure facility) all over the world. ..
Of course, we are also familiar with operational know-how, so if you look at the set amount of the annual pass, you can see a part of the strategy.

Legoland's annual pass is too cheap, so by all means it's aimed at repeaters.
The Chukyo Industrial Area, where Legoland is located, has less living alone than other metropolitan areas in Tokyo and Osaka, and has a high proportion of three generations (grandparents, parents, and children) living together.
It seems that this strategy is addictive in terms of land, and many families seemed to come to play like a park on the day I visited.
And it's a very reasonable strategy to get a high price from tourists who use it only once.
The one-day pass is expensive, but there are ways to save money.
Re-entry is possible with a great combo ticket.
There is an adjacent aquarium called "Sea Life", but if you buy a set ticket with Legoland, the admission fee for Sea Life will be discounted from 1700 yen to 500 yen for adults.
That alone is a great deal, but with this combo ticket, you will be able to re-enter LEGOLAND only once. (Re-entry is not possible with a regular one-day pass)
In addition, we may have a cheaper campaign for the winter season or for the locals, so if you find one, use it positively.
Main facility for adults "Miniland"
Let's start with "Miniland," which we consider to be the main facility for adults.
Tourist attractions from all over Japan are reproduced with more than 1000 million Lego.
It's quite large, and it feels like "Tobu World Square" in Tochigi or "Small Worlds TOKYO" that recently opened in Tokyo.
If you like miniatures, time goes by infinitely here.
There is also a "button that happens when you press it", so if you find one, press it for the time being.

Although it is the Nagoya Dome, countless people are reproduced with Lego.
Kowa Co., Ltd., headquartered in Nagoya, purchased the naming rights, so the official name is now "Vantelin Dome".

The following "Lego Factory Tour" and "Submarine Adventure" are also popular attractions and tend to have long waiting times, so go as early as possible in the morning.
Lego Factory Tour
It is a facility where you can tour the Lego block factory.
This is the only place in Japan that makes Lego.
After listening to the staff's commentary, you can freely tour the factory for about 5 minutes.
Since the number of people who can be guided at one time is limited, it seems that the waiting time will inevitably become long.
I thought it was just a facility that looked like a Haribote factory, but I was surprised that a real manufacturing machine was also installed.
On your way home, you can get one block as a souvenir.
There is a serious accident in the corner, but the factory never stops.
This Lego doll has a pen stuck in its chest pocket, so it's uselessly elaborate.
Submarine Adventure
It is an attraction that goes through the sea by submarine.
The object at the entrance is dragged into the octopus, but there is no horror element in particular, so even small children are okay.
I will board a Lego-like aircraft.
The recommended seat is on the right side in the direction of travel. (The direction opposite to the boarding gate. It doesn't matter whether it is in front or behind.)

Observation Tower
It is a tower with a height of about 60m located in the center of Legoland.
With an observatory, you can enjoy the view from above.
Get on the round tubular observatory and climb up while rotating.
Please be assured that it will not fall suddenly.
You will reach the summit in a few minutes.
I think it would be better to remember the day if you got on after going around Legoland.
Lego Ninjago Live
It wasn't a very interesting show, but the expression method was very challenging.
It's a Lego puppet show, but the way the character plays is to attach a stick to the limbs of the puppet and operate it by Kuroko behind.
Do you know if you say it's like a traditional performing art, Ningyo Joruri?Or the stick dance of the alter ego doll that the entertainer often does.
The expression method was interesting, but the story was terrible.
The meaningless settings were piled up, and it made me feel like I saw a censored manga that ended without being utilized.
Even if adults can't enjoy it, it's a success if children can enjoy it in the end, but many children got tired of it and lay down on the way.
When I think about it now, it may have been bad that I was unconsciously expecting something like the "Lego Movie" of the movie. (Children can of course enjoy it, and adults can enjoy it if they feel honest)
Since all the audio is recorded, it is a tough place to not be able to ad-lib even though it is live, but I think it is better to cut the part that is not received by the customer.

Adventure
An Egyptian-themed area.
Even in the magnifying glass of an archaeologist-like old man, it is well represented by Lego.
Knight's Kingdom
It is an area like a medieval castle.
There are relatively thrilling roller coasters.
Pirates Shore
This is a pirate-themed area.
There are attractions that make you soaked, so it's a place you'll want to visit during the hot season.
Lego Ninja Go World
This area is based on the theme of ninja.
By the way, the dome-shaped facility in the back is an exhibition hall called "Port Messe Nagoya", which has nothing to do with Legoland.
At first I thought it was part of Legoland, so I searched for a way to get there.
In the recently created area, an attraction called "Flying Ninjago" has also been newly established.
It's a name like a certain attraction in USJ, but the route is simple.
However, you can operate the wings with both of your own hands and spin around.
Lego manhole
The manhole is also a Lego specification.
The word "Chubu Electric Power" is also included, so it's a real manhole.
Lego parts in the park
As you stroll around Legoland, you will find many objects that remind you that there were such parts in the past.
Lego may be hidden in unexpected places, so be careful when taking a walk.
Congestion
It was only rattled at the beginning of the opening, and now it is usually crowded with families. (At least on holidays)
Admission may be restricted during long holidays, so be sure to prepare your admission ticket in advance.
Probably because there are many year pass holders, it is very vacant right after the start time, so let's go to "Workshop", "Lego Factory Tour", "Submarine Adventure" first.
Other attractions shouldn't have to wait that long.
Required Time
Even if you are an adult alone, you should watch for at least 2 hours.
It depends on how long I stayed in Miniland, but for some reason I spent about 4 hours in total.
It usually takes a day for families.
Recommended time
Some attractions use water, so you may want to avoid winter as much as possible.
The rest is basically outdoors, so a sunny day is desirable.
It's probably rattle on a rainy day in winter, but if you prefer that, let's aim at it.
Admission tickets should also be cheaper than in summer.
Legoland Hotel
This is an official hotel adjacent to Legoland.
All rooms have children's rooms, and the concept is "a hotel where you can play".
It's cheaper than the official theme parks, so I think it's a good idea to make it your first choice when you go to Legoland with your family.
